Gwyneth Stokes reports: The group met in December 2006 under the new chair Mary Pattison. There were progress reports on burial law reform and the results of the burial grounds survey. [copies of minutes may be obtained on request].
A presentation was given on the local government white paper Strong and Prosperous Communities - copies of the presentation may be obtained from the Department for Constitutional Affairs. [Note from May 2007 Department of Justice] Brian.Webb@justice.gsi.gov.uk

The Minister Harriet Harman said that the prospects of early reform of burial laws were not good as the government had a very full timetable on legislation but that she hoped to make an announcement in the new year.
