The Friends of St Mary's Churchyard, together with St Mary's Parochial Church Council and the Bath & North East Somerset Council were successful in winning a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore and conserve this historic churchyard in Henrietta Road.
The Churchyard was re-opened to the public in 2006 - many of the graves had been restored and the wilderness reclaimed and transformed with a pathway, signs, information boards and new plants.
The churchyard contains many important graves. These include John Pinch Senior and Junior, local architects of the 19th Century; Dame Elenora Brisbane, mother of Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane, Govenor of New South Wales; and Sophia Wren, great grand-daughter of Sir Christopher Wren
