Memorial Safety

Guidelines to cemetery owners were eventually published by the Ministry although not all the advice had the support of all BCAG members. The NFCF, however, have welcomed these guidelines, hoping that their application will prevent further ‘laying down’ of memorial stones or of using unsuitable equipment for testing safety. Following the distribution, a further document was sent in the form of Frequently Asked Questions by cemetery owners. We believe that Cemetery Friends and the public should be aware of these guidelines   and it would be useful for them to know whether their local authority is also aware of them and whether sympathetic to the content.
